If you ask Slovaks for the most famous spa town in Slovakia the answer is almost always Piešťany. People have been utilising the geothermal healing waters of this western Slovak town for literally thousands of years, but it's only during the Austro-Hungarian empire that the town's most luxurious spa treatment centre was created. So if you're after 5-star treatment combined with history, there's only one place to go: the grand Thermia Palace. Gavin Shoebridge reports.
