Anthology of Slovak Literature launched in the UK

The latest anthology of Slovak writers translated into English, The Dedalus Book of Slovak literature, will be presented to the British book market. The Dedalus Book of Slovak literature has been edited by Peter Karpinský, translated by Janet Livingstone and Magdalena Mullek, and it was published this summer by the British publisher Dedalus Books. The anthology offers a wide-ranging selection of fiction from the end of the nineteenth century to the present day, including work by Slovakia's classic and most important contemporary authors such as Rudolf Sloboda, Dominik Tatarka, Pavel Vilikovský, Monika Kompaníková and Balla. This is the most important selection of Slovak fiction to have appeared in English. The first presentation takes place on Wednesday, November 25 at the premises of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in London. On November 26, the book will be presented at the University of Bristol.
