Major war likely in Ukraine thinks Prime Minister

The ceasefire in eastern Ukraine that has been agreed upon in Minsk will soon be broken, and this may be followed by all-out war, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on RTVS's Saturday talk show. According to him, "strange games" are being played in Ukraine, and there will soon emerge offers on the sale of arms to Ukraine. "Forget about values. Why has it been agreed that the ceasefire would enter into force as late as on Sunday morning? To make sure that both sides take up their positions. This is too little to avert a war. The circumstances are leading to an early violation of the ceasefire and a major war outbreak in Ukraine," said Fico. The Slovak premier announced that his Government has been approached by the German Social Democrats with a proposal to organise a peace conference in Slovakia, which should take place in Košice in early March. When asked by the anchor about his critical stance towards sanctions against Russia, Fico asked as to why Slovakia should be part of settling the scores on a geopolitical level. "Have the sanctions changed Russia's stance? No. Slovakia is a small country; we hardly can be part of geopolitical duels. We don't have tools such as the USA to force anybody to change their behaviour. Our only weapon is international law," added Fico.
