What do you do with millions of tonnes of glycerol? Due to intensified production of bio-diesel in recent years, this once prized substance is now so abundant EU governments don't know what to do with it. So what if you could convert it into more fuel? That's what the Slovak Technical University are doing, as part of an EU-wide plan called GRAIL. Gavin Shoebridge visited their labs and spoke to team leader Dr Martin Rebroš to uncover the secrets behind this scientific equivalent of turning water into wine.
