Košice airport to operate regular route to Germany in 2016

Košice airport will operate regular routes to Germany next year, Košice mayor Richard Raši said on Tuesday. "The city as well as the region are ready to launch a new connection to Germany next year", said Raši at the Košice Invest 2015 conference. The German cities set to be connected to Košice are still open for discussion. Cologne, Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf are all in the frame. "We need to launch the process of pooling the financial resources of the city and region via their organisations for tourism, as they're the main organisations financially supporting these connections. Then we have to recognise which German airport is the best for our region. Finally, we have to find a transport operator, which will attend to our needs the best and will require the lowest rate of investment stimulus", Raši told TASR, adding that individual employers in the region have been calling for connections with cities in which they have their international headquarters. The launch of a route to Germany will be carried out in a similar way as in 2013, when tourism organisation Košice Tourism initiated a link between Košice and London.
