Slovak economy is in good shape, says President

Slovakia and its economy are in good shape, announced President Andrej Kiska at the conference of CFO Forum Slovakia & Startup or Shutdown Slovakia on Tuesday. "We're expecting growth in gross domestic product [GDP] of more than 3 percent and unemployment is declining. The state budget deficit is under control and there is a huge ambition to have a balanced state budget, to which I take my hat off. This is because I meet presidents of many other countries where the situation is much, much worse than here, although the world as a whole is beginning to flourish again. According to Kiska, the bad news is that Slovakia is unable to focus on its priorities as it progresses. "We know about the problems, such as unstable laws, poor law enforcement, bureaucracy, underdeveloped regions, a lack of support for science and research, innovative technologies and education, but we're unable to set priorities. We're unable to determine what the key points are. There can't be 20 or 30 priorities, but they have to be such that when we invest in them and take care of them, a [positive] change will come", said Kiska.
