Jaguar chooses Slovakia for its new plant

The British automotive company Jaguar Land Rover has signed a document with the Slovak government about its intention to build a new plant in Nitra, in western Slovakia. A definite word on the plant should come at the end of the year after a feasibility study has been carried out. "Given the high level of the automobile industry already in place, Slovakia is an attractive business development option", stated representatives of the automobile company on Tuesday. The new plant is supposed to help the company's existing production lines in the UK, China, India and Brazil. Jaguar claims that it chose Slovakia after a thorough analysis and after scouting a number of localities in Europe, the USA and Mexico. Among the advantages of Slovakia was the strong net of suppliers and a good infrastructure. Jaguar and the Slovak government are to now jointly prepare a feasibility study of the plant which in the coming decade could gradually be producing as many as 300 000 automobiles. The company expects the first cars to emerge from the plant in Nitra in the year 2018.
