Italian company Enel confirms will to sell its stake in Slovenske Elektrarne

Enel will be selling its 66 percent stake in the Slovak power utility Slovenske Elektrarne (SE). Slovenské elektrárne is the biggest electricity producer in Slovakia. In 2006 the Italian company Enel became its main stakeholder, with the remaining minority, 34 % stake remaining in the hands of the Slovak republic, governed by the Economy Ministry. As the Reuters agency informed the Finnish firm Fortum could also be interested in the stake. Fortum is already communicating with Enel however hasn't officially confirmed its interest yet. The government will probably not be able to influence the sale of this stake in SE. As indicates the shareholders' agreement, which is available to the web portal vEnergetike.sk, the government has no right of first refusal to the shares sold.
