Number of bribes and “gifts” to doctors falling

The prevalence of unofficial payments to medical staff, such as gifts, reciprocal services, or pecuniary incentives shrank modestly compared with a survey carried out in January 2012. Over the past three years, 21.8 percent of respondents gave "something extra" to health care workers compared to 26 percent in 2012. This is the result of a representative survey, which the Focus polling agency conducted for Transparency International Slovakia (TIS) among 1,010 respondents in January and February 2015. Health care is still considered a sector most affected by bribery in Slovakia.
