Progressive Slovakia criticises law on Slovak Television and Radio, views changes as purpose-made
Opposition Progressive Slovakia disagrees with the law on Slovak Television and Radio (STVR) approved by the government on Wednesday. Progressive Slovakia wants to put maximum pressure to prevent the law from being passed by Parliament. In case it is passed, the party didn't rule out turning to the Constitutional Court. It views the change as purpose-made with the aim of taking control of the public-service medium. In line with the government's bill, public-service broadcaster Radio and Television of Slovakia should be renamed Slovak Television and Radio (STVR). The director will be elected by a nine-member council including four nominees from the Culture Ministry.
