Slovakia is more than just a transit country for immigrants

At the end of June 79,422 foreigners were officially registered as residing in Slovakia by 7.4% more than in the same period of last year. Czech, Hungarians, Ukrainians and Romanians top the chart of the largest communities. Now leaving aside the EU nationals who benefit from freedom to travel and work in Slovakia, why have citizens from outside the union chosen this country? According to a study done by the Slovak Business Agency, 34.7 percent of third country nationals coming to Slovakia chose it for being good for life, 28% because a family member or a friend recommended it and there were some respondents who said that they chose it by chance. Anca Dragu reports.
