According to the latest data of the European Network of Cancer Registries in 2012 Slovakia had the highest incidence rate of colorectal cancer in Europe, 63.3 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and shared with Croatia, the second highest mortality after Hungary. In rough numbers about 1,700 Slovaks die of this type of cancer every year. Anca Dragu tries to find out why.
