Fundamental Rights Agency: Migrants must be assessed on an individual basis

Last week the topic of how to stop migrants from countries outside the European Union coming to Europe and what to do with those who are already here but do not fulfil the conditions for asylum was back in the headlines. The first such migrants were returned to Turkey part of a deal that triggered controversy in the eyes of some human rights experts. EU's Fundamental Rights Agency, an advisory body, raised a few warning flags too for example when it comes to the proposal for EU's common list of safe countries of origin or the situation of the unaccompanied minors. Anca Dragu spoke about these concerns with Michal Nespor, one of the drafters of the Agency's opinion on the safe countries of origin proposal.
